SPS automotive performance aiming to confirm its performance at Monza

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza will host the penultimate round of the 2023 International GT Open this weekend. At the traditional Italian circuit, Dexter Müller and Yannick Mettler (both SUI) in the #54 Mercedes-AMG GT3 and their team-mates Reece Barr (IRL) and Mikaeel Pitamber (RSA) in the #20 sister car will be fighting for a promising position for the season finale. The team from Willsbach-Obersulm, Germany, will be looking to build on the strong team performance seen in previous rounds of the International GT Open.

Last year, SPS automotive performance was successful on the high-speed circuit of Monza. Yannick Mettler took pole position for the first race in the #54 Mercedes-AMG GT3. In the second race, Mettler and his partner Dexter Müller won their class in the PROAM category. With this result from last year, the Swiss duo will be highly motivated to achieve a similar result in Monza.

Their team-mates Reece Barr and Mikaeel Pitamber will race together for the first time in Monza in the #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3. After an upward trend in recent events, including an overall podium for Barr and Pitamber, the two drivers travel to Italy full of optimism. Both drivers want to confirm their good performances and have a say in the overall podium.

The first race of the International GT Open at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza starts on Saturday 23rd September at 14:10 CEST and is scheduled to last 70 minutes. The second one-hour race will take place on Sunday at 13:30 CEST.

Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: "At the last events we showed a good performance, but sometimes we could not convert these efforts into the corresponding results. However, the podium finish at the last event at the Red Bull Ring showed the potential. We want to build on that in Monza.“
