Heart of Racing by SPS aims to continue its streak of success at Mugello

After a good start to the 2025 motorsport year, the Heart of Racing by SPS joint venture aims to confirm its good performance at the 12H Mugello. Ian James (GBR), Gray Newell and Hannah Grisham (both USA) will battle for positions at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello in the #27 Mercedes-AMG GT3.

At the legendary Bathurst 12 Hour at the start of February, the German-American team of Heart of Racing by SPS celebrated a commanding class victory in the Bronze category. The team also put in a strong performance at the 24H Dubai at the start of 2025, finishing fourth in the GT3-AM class. Heart of Racing by SPS will also compete in the European season opener of the 24H Series at Mugello, Italy, with the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

In the #27 car, which will once again feature the distinctive Heart of Racing livery, Ian James, Gray Newell and Hannah Grisham will share the cockpit in this twelve-hour race. Heart of Racing team principal Ian James and Gray Newell were already on the grid at the last two races in Mugello and were part of the driver pairing that sensationally clinched third place overall and class victory in GT3-AM in 2023. Hannah Grisham made her GT3 debut in Dubai and impressed with a strong performance on the desert circuit. Now the young American is taking on the challenge again at the technically demanding circuit in Tuscany and would like to achieve a good result in Mugello together with her teammates.

On March 22 at 11:30 a.m. local time, the lights will go green for the first six-hour stage of the 12H Mugello. Part two of the race will get underway on Sunday, March 23 at 9:30 a.m.

Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: “After the good results at the start of the season, we naturally want to build on these performances. Thanks to our previous starts in Mugello, we know the special features and can prepare well for the race. We hope that we can once again achieve a good result in our class and perhaps also in the overall standings.”
